How to Install iTunes on Windows 10 Home

1. The first step for installing iTunes on your Windows 10 Home is to go to your preferred browser of choice. For this guide I will be using Google Chrome as I find it to be the fastest, safest, and simplest way to install iTunes.Screenshot_12. Once you open up your preferred browser go to the search bar located near the top of your screen and type in “iTunes download Windows 10”. Then hit “Enter” and it will load search results for iTunes download.Screenshot_23. Now you will have many options for links you can use to install Windows 10 for free but beware there is only 1 guaranteed safe one which will never get you a virus if you install it from there, which is apples official website. For me the first link led me to it. If you aren’t sure whether or not your’re on the right website instead of typing “ITunes download Windows 10”, you can type in the link which will lead you directly to the page. https://www.apple.com/ca/itunes/music/Screenshot_34. Once your at their website you have three options to install it depending on your operating system. If you have a Mac book or any apple product your operating system will be macOS and you will click on that. You can also get it from the Microsoft store which is on your computer right now. Or you can install it on your Windows 10 which is what I’ll be doing in this guide. The difference between installing it from the Microsoft store and on Windows 10 is that from the store it automatically downloads just like an app, but with Windows 10 you can decide where you want the file to go to and you get to configure the settings the way you’d like it. So now click on Windows 10 and the page will refresh.Screenshot_45. Now the page refreshed and it updated so you can install Windows 10. Depending on if your processor is a 64-bit or 32-bit you have to install the right one accordingly. To check if your computer is 64 or 32 bit you can click the shortcut Windows Key + pause/break and it will lead you to all your computer settings. Then under System at System type it will say the bit Operating system you have. Now click the link to the one your computer is compatible with.Screenshot_56. You’ll know when your download has started when at the bottom of your screen a grey bar appears and iTunes64Setup.exe will be downloaded this may take a while. Screenshot_67. Then once its done downloading you must open it so before it downloads you can click the arrow in the box where it says iTunes64Setup.exe and it’ll give you the option to open when the installation is done, pause the download, show the download in the folder, or cancel the installation. In this guide I clicked “Open when done” so the installer will automatically start when the software is done installing.

8. When the software is done installing from the internet and you run it manually or by clicking “Open when done” the software will start to install on to your computer and you will get a small box looking like this on your screen.Screenshot_8

9. Once the box is gone which means most the software is done installing already now it gives you the installer. Here you can change some of the settings of the installation method to your preference. On the first page it gives you a general description of the software and what it is and does after reading it you can click next.

10. Here you have the option to add iTunes shortcut to your desktop so you wont have to go into your files and rub the software each time you want to use it, make it the default player for any audio files you open up, and automatically update iTunes and other Apple software when a new update come. If you like those settings you can leave the check marks in the box, but if you don’t want them just click the box and they will be unchecked meaning, what you unchecked it wont happen. Then you can choose the default language you’d like to use iTunes as and change the destination folder where the software will be installed to. For this guide we will keep “Add iTunes shortcut to my desktop” on.

11. Now at this point it is installing your preferred settings and is installing the software to the folder you instructed it to send to and the download process may take a lot of time depending on the computer you are using. The pictures above the installation bar are just tips on how to use iTunes for when it’s done installing.Screenshot_11

12. Now that the installation is completed it will inform you that and you can click Finish to close the installer and exit.Screenshot_12

13. This is the last and final step where you have to restart your computer in order for iTunes to start and run properly without any errors so you can click “Yes” and restart right now pr click “NO” and install later on. Screenshot_13

Once your PC restarted you can double click it right click your shortcut and click open to start iTunes and use it. If you clicked no shortcut you must find the file you installed iTunes into and run the folder of it.
